Apple has diverted development resources from Mac OS X Leopard to its iPhone team so the company can ship the iPhone in June, as previously promised. In an informal statement posted on Apple's Web site, the company notes that the iPhone has passed several required certification tests and is on schedule to ship in late June.

Mad Max fans who would love to watch their beloved franchise on the video iPod are now in luck. Apple has inked a distribution agreement with movie studio MGM to add its movie content to its growing stock of films. The movie studio joins Disney, Paramount and Lionsgate as providers of movie video content on iTunes, bringing its total library of films to more than 500.

MGM has become the latest major film studio to offer downloadable movies on Apple's iTunes Store. The Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios deal, announced Wednesday, builds the iTunes catalog to more than 500 movies. The studio is offering classic movies such as Dances With Wolves, Mad Max, and Rocky, and will add other titles to iTunes in coming weeks, the two companies said.
