Apple and Cisco have decided that two iPhones are better than one. The two tech giants said late Wednesday they settled the dispute Cisco filed accusing Apple of infringing on its iPhone trademark. The deal will let Apple use the iPhone name for its upcoming cell phone product while Cisco continues to use the brand name on its Linksys VoIP handsets.

Shares of Apple rose to their best levels in a month after broker Prudential Equity Group raised its 2007 and 2008 earnings estimates on expectations of a solid March quarter. Analyst Jesse Tortora's raised outlook comes after meeting with the company's senior management and carrying out a round of checks with his industry contacts in the Mac and iPod supply chains.

New York state Sen. Carl Kruger, a Democrat from Brooklyn, has proposed a $100 fine for anyone caught crossing a major city's street on foot or bicycle while listening to an iPod, talking on a cell phone, playing a video game or sending a text message. Kruger says three people have been killed since September when they stepped out in front of cars while listening to their iPods.
