iTunes users in select cities will soon be able to walk into a Starbucks coffee shop to satisfy two cravings at once -- one for a cup of joe and the other for free music downloads. The freebies will begin Oct. 2, Starbucks and Apple announced Monday, and will include songs performed by Annie Lennox, Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, Joni Mitchell, Joss Stone and Paul McCartney.

Soon after the introduction of the new, iPhone-inspired iPod nano, I visited my local Apple store. There I saw a line of customers definitely not enjoying Apple's typical feel-good experience. They were there to collect Steve Jobs' announced but not-yet-released iPhone rebate, and they were irate. The staff was literally hiding behind the store's genius bar to avoid their wrath.

Apple Insider posted a news story that a new line of Apple notebooks believed to be nearing release have been spotted in both black and traditional aluminum enclosures

The latter systems are expected to include L.E.D-backlit 13-inch LCD panels, on-board NAND flash (for faster application launching and boot times), and lack a traditional optical disc drive.
