133 fsb and win2k/nt

I heard recently that machines with 133 fsb don't like NT based systems, I don't know if that also applies to win2k. I also don't know if it's just the 820 chipset, or the VIA chipset or both. Does anyone know if this is true? that you can't run NT or win2k with an 820 chipset or a VIA apollo 133 chipset?.

What's so great about linux ? If you just want to USE it. . impossible First you need to read a couple of books. . . I don't know but I think that there are just like win2000, linux also have many disadvantages.

I can boot and install win2000 from IDE CD-Rom but why I can not boot it form SCSI CD-Rom and install? It shows Can't open from CD-ROM. Code4 But I boot Win98 bootable CD from this SCSI CD-Rom. My SCSI Card:AHA-2940 SCSI CD-Rom :TEAC CD-532S.

Computer description in W2k

This is not really important, but i was wondering if there was a way to enter in a description of my computer for my network. It was easy to do with win9x but in win2k i can't find anything to do with it.

I was wondering if there was a way to set up print quotas in win2k for other users (such as Guest accounts), specifically when sharing on a network full of win9x users. I have searched through the help files and have come up blank.

thx movies for testing surround systems

Does anyone know where I can find the trailers for Dolby or THX so I can test my surround set up. I finally got aroung to setting it up using my SB Live Value, LiveWare 3 for NT & four speakers and movie mode on and I want to test it.

In win 98 I used winipconfig in order to find my ip. In win2k, this program doesn't seem to exist. Anyone know how to find my ip in win2k? thanks in advance. .

win2k and ATX form factor

Is it just me, or does everybody's win2k machine act like it's on an AT power supply? When I shut down, it goes all the way to it is now safe to turn off your computer instead of shutting down like it's suppose to on an ATX power supply, I have win98 on this machine also, and when I shut down in 98, it does shut do ...

Restoring registry from repair console

Hi All, Can someone tell me how to restore registry files in the repair console? I selected ACPI and no my system won't boot, won't load last known good config, and won't go into safe mode. I backed up my registry before I did it but I can't figure out how to restore it now.

I wish there were some standards for deciding and submitting software compatibility. Many times do I see software marked as green (compatible), when in fact people have to do a bit or a lot of tweaking to get it to run under Win2k.

Does anyone know if there's a way (reg hacks) to move that God forsaken help item in the root of the start menu in NT4. I hate it, if i want help i come here or M$ knowledge base. Besides, if i needed basic help, I shouldn't be using NT4.

When I try to connect to my ISP (Claranet), it can take upwards of 15 redials to connect. If I connect to other ISP's (e. g. Freeserve), it connects first time. Claranet connects first time in Win98SE.

Did anybody tried the new W9x 5. 08 drivers? I installed them yesterday night on my dual boot box. Yes I know this post is a little off-topic, but maybe not so as I constantly compare performance between W2k and W98 and progress made by the new OS.

I'm poking through my services, and I see one called Windows Time. I am driven to assuming that the purpose of the services is not unlike TimeServ which was in the NT4 ResKit. I would like to use this to keep my system clock accurate, but I can't figure out how to configure it (point it to the time server).
