Portland, Oregon, USA - Rhododendron Software announces the release of version 1.1 of FolioCalc, an investment portfolio manager and performance tracker for Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5.

Portfolio Management:
Three investment types are currently supported: stock investments, interest-bearing accounts, and cash (treated as a zero-return investment). Transaction data can either be manually entered or imported from QIF or CSV files downloaded from several popular online brokers including Ameritrade, Fidelity, and more. FolioCalc can also be used as a virtual trading tool by simply entering fictional transactions. Stock splits are also supported as a transaction type.

Stock investment records corresponding to tax lots are automatically generated or closed based on the transaction data using First In First Out (FIFO), the primary tax lot accounting strategy expected by the IRS. Interest-bearing account records are generated with the first transaction and stay open until an associated close transaction is entered.

Performance Tracking:
FolioCalc automatically receives current share price data from the internet at configurable time intervals for all associated stocks, with all financial quantities dependent on share price automatically updating periodically.

Any combination of over 20 financial quantities can be displayed for each investment including cost basis, closed value, and capital gains (needed on tax forms), annual returns, pre and post-tax values, and many more. Many of these financial quantities will also be displayed for the totals of the investments in a non-scrolling totals row always visible at the bottom of the investment table.

The Investment list can also be filtered with various queries to display a subset of investments matching the filter criteria and with the totals row reflecting just that subset. For example, filtering on short or long stock investments closed in the previous year will yield a list of stock investments and totals containing the quantities needed to fill out Schedule-D of the US tax forms (although wash sales and other unusual tax situations may require special treatment before filling out the forms).
