B-Eng today introduces Similar Pic Finder 1.0, the company's new duplicate image discovery utility for Mac OS X.

Similar Pic Finder leverages 3 proprietary, dedicated algorithms to locate duplicates of images on a drive, independent of their name. The algorithms are optimized for different tasks, and when combined, they grant best possible results. A contour based algorithm takes care of focus base search, with a second specialized algorithm that traces colors and color gradients, while a fingerprint algorithm is able to ignore different sizes of images that are to be compared. The combination of these 3 algorithms in a single app grants quick results with most best accuracy and efficiency.

"One may wonder why somebody needs a special app to track down duplicates of images on a drive. But, if you take a lot of images with different devices like various smartphones and cameras and all of these images are saved on a drive, then used for different purposes - then it is only natural to make a copy of an image to be on the safe side. I personally never clean up all these safety copies, it's too much work to even find them. Now, with Similar Pic Finder, it's no work at all except confirm and delete or move duplicates. Suddenly I had a lot of free space on my disk - and I stopped wondering why my new drive is already filled up again." as Christian Schaffner, General Manager of B-Eng, explains his experience with Similar Pic.
