Two new products will be vying this winter for the role of iPod killer. One is a portable music player from Microsoft called Zune. The other is a mobile phone from Nokia that is said to possess serious musical chops. Word of these challengers to Apple's ubiquitous iPod made me wonder, not for the first time, if the best way to kill an iPod might be with a hammer.
