Some 2012 And 2013 MacBook Pro Owners Getting New Models Due To Battery Shortage

If you are having problems with your 2012 or early 2013 MacBook Pro, then this is a perfect time to replace the battery if you have AppleCare+ coverage or you are willing to pay an out-of-warranty fee of $199 in the United States.

The reason why is because Apple has informed its Genius Bar employees and Apple Authorized Service Providers it is currently unable to service the batteries of 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display models released in Mid 2012 and Early 2013 until September 15, and users can choose either to wait and get a free battery replacement when they become available or choose a functionally equivalent model.
